Tiffany Nichols

Age: 25

Business: Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau

Job title: Visitor Services Manager

Why are you working in this industry? I have always loved sports and when I had the opportunity to intern for the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, for the Abilene Sports Alliance - Champions Classic. I started discovering the world of sports and tourism, I knew it was something I could see myself doing. I have always had a great love and passion for Abilene, as it is my hometown and this job combines all of my passions into one!

What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? Getting to work early (It gives me time in the morning to set the tone for the day.), starting each morning with a cup of tea and making a daily to-do list.

Who is the person who most influenced you in business? I would have to say, my dad. He has been the prime example of hard work and always providing for his family. He’s overcome adversity to create his own business and continues to use it to help the community however he can.

What was the most significant hurdle you had to overcome to get where you are? How would you address this hurdle today? I have always loved basketball and had aspirations to play all through college. I poured years into the sport. My sophomore year I had a hip injury that changed my college path, but it ended up setting me up to be where I am today. If I had not had that injury and came back to Abilene to attend HSU I might not have made the connection with the Sports Director at the Abilene CVB. I would say that I’m thankful for the hardship because even at the time it might not seem like God is on your side, he’s always working behind the scenes to bless us.

Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? Loving on my four fur babies, miniature dachshunds (Moxie, Major, Mett and Mallie), or traveling.

Describe yourself in one word. Tall

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be? Have a passion for the city you are promoting, and it will never feel like you are working a day in your life. Don’t be afraid of hard work and taking on challenges. This is how you truly grow in this industry. It helps you to think outside of the box.
