JD Coffee YP Member Spotlight - March
Name: JD Coffee
Where do you work? Teinert Construction
What’s your job title/what do you do? Project Manager – Oversee commercial construction operations from preconstruction to final completion for the Abilene office.
Where are you from? Eastland, Texas
If you’re not from Abilene, how long have you lived in the area and what brought you here? I consider the Big Country home, even if Eastland is not right next door to Abilene. I grew up playing sports all around the big country and have family spread across it.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Big Country? The people – I have the privilege working for great clients and with great trade partners on a day to day basis. Without committed, selfless professionals on both ends of our business, success rarely is achieved. I am reminded constantly about how genuine our community is in COVID times and events like the recent winter storm. This is all a results of good people helping bless others.
What do you do in your free time? My wife, Shelby, and I enjoy spending time with her little brother, Ace, and the rest of our family. We are also big Red Raider fans and love supporting them every chance we get. What organizations (non-profit) in town do you choose to support and why? If you serve on any boards in the community or participate in any other groups? If so, what do you enjoy about your participation? We are involved at Beltway Park and support many non-profits in town – United Way, the Alliance for Women & Children, and Hendrick Home for Children to name a few. I am also able to be involved in building facilities for area non-profits such as Hendrick Health, Hendrick Home for Children, Betty Hardwick, Resource Care, the WASP Museum, and many more. It is humbling to be able to combine my daily work with being able to construct new facilities for this organizations.
What’s the last book you read or what’s your favorite book? Leadership Strategy & Tactics by Jocko Willink is my favorite. Jocko is able to clearly define leadership on all levels and apply principles from the Navy SEALs and extreme ownership to day to day life.
What’s your favorite place to travel to and why? We have been to Chicago at Christmas several times and really enjoy it. The city really goes all out at Christmas and I like the cooler weather. The combination of museums, architecture, and good food are neat as well.
