Name: Amanda Garcia

Where do you work? Tolar Systems

What’s your job title/what do you do? I am the Project Manager/ Account Manager at Tolar Systems. This means I ensure every project moves as smooth as possible from quote to completion, meet with clients on a regular bases to see how their current technology is working and if there is technology that can help the organization grow and work more efficiently. I also work with clients on taking a concept or idea on how they would like technology to work and bring it to a reality that works well with the current technology.

Where are you from? Mazeppa, MN

If you’re not from Abilene, how long have you lived in the area and what brought you here? We moved to Abilene in 2011 as that is where the military needed my husband and I at the time.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Big Country? I love the big and small town feel all in one. My husband is from a big city and I am from a town of 1,200 so this lets us both be able to enjoy what we liked about our home towns.

What do you do in your free time? In my free time I run after two kids in all sorts of activities, rescue farm animals, read, go to school and sew. What does being an Abilene Young Professional mean to you? Being a member of AYP means quite a few things to me. This brings a whole new world of networking and being able to network with those around the same age, build new friendships and relationships and see how other businesses are over coming challenges and methods of succeeding in Abilene.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Abilene? The Crab Shack

What’s the last book you read or what’s your favorite book? The last book I read was the PBOK as I am studying for my PMP; my favorite book would be any Steven King book.

What’s your favorite place to travel to and why? My favorite place to travel was Germany. We were stationed there prior to coming to Abilene and Germany is set up so that you can easily head out on Friday and just drive in any direction and find new and amazing things from castles to wineries to beautiful sites.
