NEWS AND HAPPENINGS FOR AYP

Tim Singiser Member Spotlight - Jan

January 16, 2018

Name: Tim Singiser

Where do you work?: Cooksey & Company, REALTORS, LLC.

What’s your job title/what do you do?: Manager/REALTOR. I oversee the property management side of the company and am also a full-time Realtor helping people buy and sell residential Real Estate.

Where are you from? I grew up in Pennsylvania in a small town called Boiling Springs.

If you’re not from Abilene, how long have you lived here and what brought you here? My wife and I moved to Texas just over 5 years ago when I took the job as the Curator of the Abilene Zoo. When I left that job, I transitioned into Real Estate working for a very good friend of mine, Vance Cooksey.

What is your favorite thing about living in Abilene? I enjoy the people of Abilene and growth that has happened while still keeping the small town feel.

What do you do in your free time? I am the President & Coach of the Abilene Rugby Club (always looking for new players!), the director of the FCPC Handbell Choir, and a home brewer. What I enjoy most, however, is spending time with our newborn daughter.

What does being an Abilene Young Professional mean to you? Being in AYP has allowed me to branch out and talk with other young professionals that I would not normally have a chance to meet. It is a great way to build business contacts, referrals, and most importantly, friendships.

Do you serve on any boards in the community or participate in any other groups? If so, what do you enjoy about your participation? I currently serve on the Young Audiences of Abilene board which brings various art mediums to children who might otherwise not have exposure. I served as a Deacon in my church and am on the Bequests & Planned Giving Committee and Worship Committee. I recently joined the Membership committee for the Abilene Association of REALTORS as well as the Mozart Society Committee of the Philharmonic.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Abilene? Abilene is lucky to have a lot of locally owned restaurants, but when I need a relaxing night out with my wife, we always go to Vagabond. Not only do they serve great food, beer, and wine, but the personal attention they give their customers is second to none.

What’s your favorite place to travel to and why? My wife and I love to travel and have been all over the world. My favorite trip to date was our safari through Botswana. There is nothing better than spending a week and a half completely off the grid surrounded by nature. Where else can you go that has wild elephants, hyenas, and giraffes going through your campsite while falling asleep to the sounds of hippos bellowing in the background?
