If you’re not from Abilene, how long have you lived here and what brought you here? I attended Hardin-Simmons University in 2006. I graduated in 2010 and haven’t left Abilene since.
What is your favorite thing about living in Abilene? As someone that grew up living in a big city, Abilene feels homey. I love the small town feeling and being out in the country. The people here are welcoming. Plus side: no traffic!
What do you do in your free time? Workout at D1. Whatever can get me outdoors: Hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. I’m a huge sports fan, love traveling to watch games.
What does being an Abilene Young Professional mean to you? Being a young professional in Abilene means getting involved and making a difference in my company and the community. It also allows me the opportunity to network and engage with other young professionals and leaders in the community where we can inspire greatness in Abilene.
What organizations (non-profit) in town do you choose to support and why? I donate to March of Dimes. ARMC has a Level III NICU, and with my donation, I feel it’s playing a vital role by improving the health of those sweet babies upstairs.
I also donate to United Way. By donating, I feel like I could be helping my neighbor without even knowing it.
Do you serve on any boards in the community or participate in any other groups? If so, what do you enjoy about your participation? I serve on Big Country SHRM board (Society for Human Resource Mgmt), West Texas AHEC-Big Country, and a few of the nursing schools advisory boards. I also volunteer my time with Junior Achievement. Seeing that I love working with children, this was a perfect opportunity to partner up with this organization to help make a positive impact on young kids in the Abilene community. I enjoy the interaction with the kids and inspiring them to learn more about the Abilene community.
What’s your favorite place to travel to and why? Fredericksburg! Wine country and shopping!
