Business: City of Abilene
Job title: City Secretary
Why are you working in this industry? ? I have had a variety of careers in my life (warrants for a sheriff’s office, pastry chef, HR) but I have really found my niche as a City Secretary. I thoroughly enjoy records management and archiving, being involved with our local elections and elected officials, helping citizens gain an understanding of how a local government works, and above all helping to record and preserve Abilene’s amazing history.
What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? Arrive early. Plan and prioritize your day (as best you can). Keep a positive attitude and a smile
What is the best advice you have ever received? Work hard in silence and let your success make the noise.
What is an accomplishment that shaped your career? Achieving both my Texas Registered Municipal Clerk designation and my Certified Municipal Clerk designation.
What was your first summer job? Part-time holiday help at Wet Seal in the Mall of Abilene.
Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? Spending time on our ranch, baking delicious treats, volunteering at various community events, or traveling and hiking in remote corners of the world.
Describe yourself in one word. Amicable
