If Not from Abilene, how long have you lived in the area and what brought you here? I came to Abilene during my last summer of high school in 2005 as an Abilene Christian University Jr. Scholar. After high school graduation I attended Abilene Christian University and received my degree in Environmental Science. I traveled away from Abilene for Graduate school, but have been back now for four years working at my current job.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Big Country? The Big Country has a taste of the city while still being true Texas Country!

What do you do in your free time? I can be found attending downtown events with friends, volunteering with the Abilene Jr. League or sipping coffee and reading at Monks. While at home, I am enjoy working on craft projects, gardening, grilling in my backyard or watching movies.

What organizations (non-profit) in town do you choose to support and why? Do you serve on any boards in the community or participate in any other groups? If so, what do you enjoy about your participation? The past two years I have volunteered on the event committee for the Make-A-Wish foundation’s annual Wine and Wishes fundraiser in Abilene. Our event this year raised a total of $78,000. The proceeds all go towards granting the wishes of children in this area. I also participate on the Farm and Ranch Exposition committee with the Chamber of Commerce and am a member of Abilene’s Jr. League. I enjoy participating on different committees because of the like minded people I get to meet and work with in addition to helping others. It is also very fun to attend the events that I help plan!
