Human beings like certainty. We are hard-wired to want to know what is happening when and to notice things that feel threatening to us. In times like these, our mental health can suffer. It’s important to note that we are not helpless in light of current news events. Here are some things you can do to take care of your mental health in the face of uncertainty.
Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
Take breaks from continually sitting in front of your computer or phone! Try to alternate between sitting and standing.
Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol.
Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
Do what helps YOU feel a sense of safety.
Get moving, AYP! Any activity is better than none! Use the stairs or steps in your home as a time-efficient way to maintain fitness.Use your own bodyweight for exercises.
