AYP Membership Bash
Audrey Schroyer, Abilene Industrial Foundation
AYP Marketing/Membership Subcommittee
Can you believe that we’re now less than 30 days away from the 3rd Annual AYP Membership Bash? We can’t believe that three years have passed since the Chamber, our foundation sponsors, and a few of our young professionals started the initiative to help establish a sense of community within the 21-40 age demographic here in Abilene.
As we look toward celebrating our third AYP birthday, we want to take a look back at the professional development, community outreach and awesome networking opportunities that AYP has been able to accomplish. A few of AYP’s highlights:
Assisted in planning and hosting over 20 networking events (our largest had over 200 young professionals in attendance!)
Gained 534 members
Launched the “Get on Board” nonprofit initiative to help match motivated YP members with board positions throughout the Big Country
Partnered with the Abilene Reporter-News to help recognize our community’s young talent in their 20 Under 40 program
This is a great achievement for a young organization and it’s all thanks to you, our incredible members. You are what make this organization exciting and valuable to not only the community, but your fellow young professionals.
This year’s Membership Bash will be held on April 6th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Taylor County Expo Round Building. The theme is Casino Night and the events subcommittee has a fantastic night planned!
But once the event ends at 9:00 pm, does that mean the AYP party has to stop? Of course not!
Now if most of you are thinking you’ll go hit up the regular spots downtown, or maybe one of your other hangouts outside of the loop…that’s not what we meant.
Once the Bash is over, we start another year of AYP. Another year of After Five networking events, another year of board meetings, another year of subcommittee meetings, another year of professional development, and so on. Once the Bash is over, we start working through another year of attracting, engaging, and especially retaining current and new members.
Now that we are going into our 4th year, it’s time to ramp up those engagement levels. We challenge each and every one of you to find a way to get involved to continue making this organization the premier young professional group of West Texas with the best and brightest members in the Big Country. We all need to be dedicated to the mission of attracting, engaging and retaining young professionals to make Abilene the best Abilene it can be.
Make sure to save the date for the Membership Bash and be checking the website and our social media channels for more updates on activities, sponsors and more! We can’t wait to celebrate with you and make this next year of AYP the best one yet.
