Business: Big Country Title

Job title: VP/Business Development

Why are you working in this industry?

I love to learn and connect with people. Real estate allows me to do both in a dynamic environment. Each transaction presents a unique combination of learning opportunities and a myriad of ways to serve our customers.

What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful?

  1. Waking up early.

  2. Task prioritization.

  3. Planning and goal assessment.

Who is the person who most influenced you in business?

While at Texas A&M, I worked in operations with the Women’s Basketball team. One of the coaches on staff was Bob Starkey. He was gracious with his time and knowledge and mentored me during my Junior & Senior years of college.

He taught me the art of preparation, the importance of authenticity, and to embrace learning as a lifelong endeavor. All of these lessons transcend basketball and apply to many areas of business and life.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

You should always be building towards a goal. Whether it is accomplishing a personal milestone or developing a product, business, or brand. The process of building something meaningful gives you purpose, requires focus, and facilitates growth.

What do you want to be doing in 10 years?

Using real estate to pursue the creation & cultivation of authentic relationships.

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be?

Do not be discouraged if relationships don’t develop quickly. Some relationships blossom overnight, while others take years to cultivate. In our business, we’re building trust. Trust moves at different speeds. While you’re waiting, learn to listen and add value to every customer in an authentic way.
