Joe Mangrem

Age: 36

Business: Enprotec/Hibbs & Todd, Inc.

Job title: Project Manager

Why are you working in this industry? Ever since I can remember I always wanted to be a civil engineer. My dad and granddad were engineers. I especially enjoy seeing a project go to serve some important community need. It has taken many thousands of engineers to build the world around us and adding some little part to that is gratifying.

What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? Drink coffee, work hard, be nice.

Who is the person who most influenced you in business? During college I worked at a small engineering firm in Bryan, TX, named Galindo Engineers and Planners, Inc. Chris Galindo was (and still is) a very positive influence in my life. Working for him through my extended collegiate years exposed me to a practical, careful, and compassionate approach to the world of civil engineering that has been the foundation of my business experience in the industry.

What is the best advice you have ever received? The key to a happy life is having a thick skin and a short memory.

What is an accomplishment that shaped your career? Marrying my wonderful wife, Kelsi. We have two amazing children, Ryan and Landri, and they provide balance to my life. They motivate me to be a better person and that has greatly shaped my career.

What do you want to be doing in 10 years? I hope to be doing pretty much what I am doing now. Ten years more senior in the industry and still working on important and exciting projects at eHT. On the family side, birthday parties and college tours – “Whatever you choose kids, so long as its Tech or A&M”.

Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? I enjoy spending my time off work playing with the kids or at our family ranch doing ranch stuff.
