Job title: Marketing Consultant/Account Executive

Why are you working in this industry? I am extremely passionate about marketing and advertising. I’m a people person and thrive off of others. Working in this industry allows me to make long lasting connections and help the businesses of Abilene thrive.

What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful?

1. I make a point to truly compliment three different people a day. Making other people happy and smile helps me feel happy and makes my day a bit better.

2. Make lists! I’m a perpetual list maker.

3. Attempt to get out of my comfort zone as often as possible!

What was the most significant hurdle you had to overcome to get where you are? How would you address this hurdle today? I have struggled with depression and anxiety since I was in grad school. Two years ago, at age 25 with a master’s degree I was living with my parents and didn’t get out of bed for a few months. With lots of hard work I was able to pull myself from that darkness, but I believe I am a better person because of it. You can’t enjoy the sunshine without a little rain!

What is an accomplishment that shaped your career? I definitely think my education. I’ve always been passionate about marketing, but the tools from my degrees have helped me in so many ways.

What changes have you seen in Abilene during your career? What changes would you like to see? I grew up here and Abilene didn’t use to be this fun and exciting place. It has now changed to a thriving city full of youth and excitement, and I’m so happy to be a part of that change.

Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? I love to support our night life scene! Pre COVID-19, you could find me in downtown Abilene or the SoDA district! Now you can find me in my pj’s on my couch binging Netflix!

Describe yourself in one word. Nostalgic.

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be? Get involved! Everyone always says, “it’s not what you know, its who you know,” and that is so true! Immerse yourself in your surroundings. Find out what you’re doing and why it’s important and it’ll be easy from there!
