Collin Zalesak

Age: 33

Business: Parkhill

Job title: Architect, Associate

Why are you working in this industry?

Being an architect has been a dream of mine since I was little. I enjoy the wide range of opportunities we have as architects to be able to help communities. One of my favorite parts of being an architect is helping a client take their vision and help make it a reality, and to see their smile at the end knowing their dream was accomplished.

*What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful?

Review action items and categorize their priority, take care of quick items and set aside time to focus on larger specific tasks, look ahead to the next two weeks to be prepared for meetings.

Who is the person who most influenced you in business?

Ruppert Rangel

What is an accomplishment that shaped your career?

Becoming a licensed Architect by logging 5,600 IDP hours and taking and passing 7 licensing exams.

What was your first summer job?

I worked at Sonic as a Drive-Thru Cashier and a Pass-Thru/ Bagger. Occasionally I would get to cook.

Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off?

Spending time with family. We typically go to Michigan as a family. I also enjoy taking time off to go hunt with my dad and brother.

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be?

Be a sponge, soak up every bit of knowledge you can from those within reach. Start early on IDP hours and always ask questions.
