Meet the Class of 2019!
Chris Mabry
Age: 39
Business: Betty Hardwick Center
Job title: Chief Financial Officer
Why are you working in this industry? I love working for an organization that is addressing our community’s needs in a meaningful way. I’m proud of the work we accomplish as well as our collaborative projects we have with several organizations in the area.

What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful?
-
Start the day with a win – make up the bed.
-
I treat being home for dinner as the most important meeting on my calendar.
-
Express gratitude. This allows me to be a positive person.
Who is the person who most influenced you in business? My Dad, Rick Mabry. I got to work for him one summer, and I came away admiring him even more. He displayed a lot of integrity, had a great work/life balance, was personable, and loved to have a good time. The man didn’t have a junk drawer – he had a joke drawer! His approach to life really has molded me.
What is the best advice you have ever received? I love the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. A line I think about often is, “Making a choice that is 1% better or 1% worse is insignificant in the moment. But over the span of moments that make up a lifetime, these choices determine the difference between who you are and who you could be.” Every choice we make is placing a vote for who you really are.
What was your first summer job? Server at The Olive Garden. I think everyone should work a job in the service industry at some point in their life. I think we’d all be just a little nicer to one another.
Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? If I’m not on a soccer pitch, then you can find me in my backyard cooking for family and friends.
Describe yourself in one word. Steady
