Allison Alvarez

Age: 3o

Business: Arrow Ford Mitsubishi

Job title: Marketing Director

Why are you working in this industry? I love working in advertising because it allows me to connect with people and be both analytical and creative. I am new to automotive but love the hard-working people on my team and the exciting innovations that are happening in the industry.

What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? To stay on top of everything in a day, I put everything on my calendar, including carving out time to focus on my most important tasks. On top of that, I make sure to get good sleep every night and good coffee every morning.

Who is the person who most influenced you in business? Meeting Elyse Lewis in 2014 has had the most significant impact on my career. She is a precious friend and a wonderful mentor. She encouraged me to further my education, involved me in volunteer activities, and is always there to give advice and cheer me on. I am forever grateful for her.

What is the best advice you have ever received? Things don’t have to be perfect to be wonderful.

What changes have you seen in Abilene during your career? What changes would you like to see? Abilene has made a concerted effort to attract and retain young professionals. I want to see our community continue developing downtown into a dining and shopping destination and creating opportunities for new graduates.

What was your first summer job? I was an apprentice for my dad’s friend who creates stained-glass windows. I helped build the windows in the First Baptist Church in Clyde.

Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? Watching Texas Longhorns football and basketball, enjoying a cocktail at Kao Lounge, or spending time with friends and family.

If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be? Volunteer your time and talents to projects or causes you are passionate about. Volunteering allows you to grow personally and professionally.
