Regi McCabe Gossett
Business: Texas Midwest Surgery Center
Job title: Business Manager
Why are you working in this industry? While I was in college it became apparent to me that I wanted to be in an industry that was complex and required continuous improvement to keep up with best practices. Furthermore, there are very few industries that allow me to live out my passion of improving my community quite like healthcare. Overtime, I found my own little niche in healthcare finance, specifically in surgical services. This role and industry satisfy my passion for community, while allowing me to embrace my love for learning and problem solving.
What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? 1) Embrace collaboration and the ideas of others; 2) Ask a ton of questions; 3) Find small ways to improve efficiencies
What is the best advice you have ever received? “Just because you have an answer doesn’t mean it’s the only answer.” It’s more fun and efficient to think outside the box rather than doing something how it’s always been done. For me this type of thinking has allowed me to be more collaborative on projects, processes, and as a manager with my employees.
What do you want to be doing in 10 years? Something that I enjoy, allows me to live out my passions, and spend time with my family and friends.
What was your first summer job? Server at Casacadian Place, a senior assisted living center in Everett, Washington.
Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? Either traveling with my awesome wife Jasmine, playing video games online with my friends, watching anime, or finding a new bottle of scotch to try.
If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be? Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The prevailing notion of “there’s no such thing as a dumb question” only pertains to the question you don’t ask out of fear of embarrassment. So, ask all the questions you need to.
