Business: Holland Hearing Center
Job title: Owner/Audiologist
Why are you working in this industry? There are two things I have found that give me a sense of fulfillment in my career: 1. helping people 2. problem solving. The work I do daily allows me to do both. I get to help people plug back into their lives through better hearing. I am constantly challenged every day which I love. I’ve also been fortunate enough to meet some amazing people during my career who have blessed my life far more than I could have ever imagined.
What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? 1. Always look for ways to improve. 2. Focus on helping others. 3. Allow time to relax and recharge.
Who is the person who most influenced you in business? I have been blessed to not only have one. Dr. Sue Ann Holland, who has encouraged me to always be open to new ideas, continually learn as much as I can, and to stay true to my values. My parents, who instilled in us at an early age the value of hard work and the importance in being active in and giving back to your community.
What is the best advice you have ever received? A quote that has always resonated with me and one in which I try to live by was said by Albert Pine. “What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.”
Describe yourself in one word. Driven.
What was your first summer job? I worked as a sales associate at Angelo Pellets Feed Store in San Angelo, TX. Working Saturdays at 7:00 in the morning during college built a lot of character.
If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be? You get out what you put into it. This field is one of the most rewarding career paths you can choose and in order to be effective, you need to be genuinely invested in your patients care and overall wellbeing.
