Business: Abilene Police Department
Job title: Police Records Division Manager
Why are you working in this industry? I come from a family with service-oriented values. My husband, Daniel, is an Abilene Police Officer, my older brother, Mike, is Fire Captain for Kings County in CA, my younger brother, Aaron, is in the USAF, my father is a prison Chaplain, and my mother is a retired elementary teacher. It’s in my heart to follow suit and serve my community as they have served theirs.
What are three daily habits that have helped you to become successful? Be fair. Be kind. Be thorough.
What is the best advice you have ever received? My husband, Daniel, would always remind me to just be me. It seems simple enough until you’re in a stressful situation or are doubting yourself. Remembering that I am capable, intelligent, and exactly where I am supposed to be because of who I am always brings me to a place of clarity.
What was your first summer job? TCBY. Slinging frozen treats isn’t the worst thing a girl can do to make some spending money!
Where will we find you enjoying your hard-earned time off? On the couch with my husband, pajamas, and some greasy comfort food.
Describe yourself in one word. Resilient
If you were to give one piece of advice to someone starting out in your field what would it be? I’d give two: never stop learning ways to improve yourself and your craft, and the phrase “that’s how we’ve always done it” should never leave your lips.
